Voice Of Greeley Residents

About Rachelle Tabor

My name is Rachelle Tabor, and Colorado has been home for nearly my whole life. I was born in Omaha, Nebraska in April of 1972, but moved to Loveland in 1976. Much of my childhood was spent in Greeley, and after living in a few different places, I returned and made Greeley my permanent home in 2010.

I've been married to my husband David for 35 wonderful years, Together, we've raised three incredible children, Andrew, Shelby, and Morgan, and today, I'm a proud grandmother to eight beautiful grandchildren who are the light of my life.

In 2018, I opened Natural Wellness LLC, a small business here in Greeley that reflects my passion for helping others feel their best naturally. I'm currently continuing my education in Naturopathic and Holistic Health, and I truly believe in the power of caring for the whole person: mind, body and spirit.

Greeley is more than where I live, it's where I've built my life, grown my family, and connected with the community I love. Whether through my business, my education, or simply being present for my neighbors, my heart is in supporting people and creating a healthier, strong, more connected city.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, spending quality time with my family, and staying involved in our community. I also love being outdoors, whether it's camping, boating, or simply taking in the natural beauty that Colorado has to offer.

Goals: Community Involvement

Building Homes

Affordable Housing

Overview:

With the median income in our area at $69,000 and the median home price at $430,000, housing affordability is out of reach for many residents. This proposal outlines a multi-pronged initiative designed to create more affordable housing options, supports small local construction businesses, and strengthen community involvement.

Key Components:

  • Utilize City-Owned Land:

Partner with local government to identify and repurpose underutilized city-owned land for affordable housing project.

  •  Support Local Construction Companies:

Prioritize small, locally owned construction businesses to build or rehabilitate homes, keeping jobs, and revenue within the community.

  • Revitalize Existing Housing Stock:

Invest in fixing up older homes and converting vacant properties into safe, livable residences, helping preserve the character of established neighborhoods.

  • Build Tiny Homes & Adjust Zoning Laws:

Promote the development of tiny homes and modify zoning regulations to allow for smaller lots and higher-density housing, offering more flexibility and lower-cost options.

  • Incentivize First-Time Homebuyers:

Offer tax breaks and down payment assistance for first-time buyers, especially those from underserved communities.

  • Community Give-Back Model:

In exchange for these benefits, buyers commit to a certain number of volunteer hours within the community, creating a sense of ownership, pride, and civic responsibility.

  • Partner with Habitat for Humanity & Other Nonprofits

Collaborate with organizations like Habitat for Humanity to provide expertise, volunteer coordination, and additional funding opportunities.

The Vision:

This program aims to make homeownership achievable for working families, stabilize neighborhoods, and foster a culture of mutual support. It's a sustainable model that grows the economy from the ground up, literally.

Economic Development & Job Growth Strategy

To support long-term economic health, we must develop a strong incentive package to attract higher-paying jobs in industries such as fine dining, skilled trades, and light manufacturing. This strategy includes:

  • Business Incentives: Offer tax breaks, reduced permitting timelines, and access to local resources for businesses that bring quality jobs.

  • Targeted Industry Recruitment: Focus on bringing in employers that offer strong wages, career growth, and community investment especially in hospitality, culinary arts, and advanced manufacturing.

  • Training & Education Partnership: Partner with local schools, trade programs and workforce centers to create job ready talent pipelines.

Youth Civic Engagement Program:

  • Inspire Future Leaders:

Give students a hands-on look at how local government works, helping them explore careers in public service, law, planning, and leadership.

  • Increase Youth Involvement:

Engage teens in real community issues, helping them feel more connected and invested

in the future of the city they live in.

  • Build Skills & Confidence:

Through research, public speaking, debate, and teamwork, students will develop critical thinking and leadership skills.

  • Strengthen Community Ties:

Students will work with city council members, attend meetings, and present mock proposals, creating real relationships between local government and young residents.
